Graeme Cunningham

Chief Executive Officer

Graeme has more than 43 years’ experience in the electrical appliance industry having worked in both the retail and wholesale areas. He has held numerous senior management positions within the industry, having worked with the Sharp Corporation, Southcorp Appliances and before joining BSR Group, Sales Director at LG Electronics. Graeme was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the group in November 2010.

Gavin Carter

Gavin Carter

Chief Operations Officer

Gavin has over 24 years’ experience in the consumer electronics and appliance industry. He manages the merchandising and operations teams whose charter is to pursue growth, added profitability for the membership and provide added value to supplier-partners. In addition Gavin is responsible for overseeing new business opportunities and new revenue streams for the group as well as growing the commercial business. Prior to joining the BSR Group, Gavin was Merchandise Manager at NARTA for a number of years.

Stewart Nash

Stuart Nash

Chief Financial Officer

Stuart has more than 25 years’ experience within accounting & finance, the last twelve years of which have been within the retail industry. Prior to joining BSR Group, Stuart was CFO at mentor-uk.com Limited and Wardle group in the UK, and a manager with KPMG for five years, specialising in audit and transaction services. He has advised senior management in a variety of industries, on a range of business issues including strategic planning and financial management. Stuart is a Chartered Accountant.

Adrian Mitchell

Adrian Mitchell

Chief Marketing Officer

Adrian has over 18 years’ experience within the consumer electronics and appliance industry. Prior to joining the BSR Group in March 2012, Adrian gained experience as a retail store manager and spent 7 years as a product manager in the audio/visual category. Adrian’s previous experience included responsibility for new store rollouts involving stock procurement, in store merchandising and the development of tactical marketing plans. More recently Adrian has led the group through the digital transformation of its website and omni-channel experience.

David Berry

David Berry

Chief Development Officer

David has more than 26 years’ experience of manufacturing, sourcing and procurement in the electrical, furniture, homewares, Kitchen & plumbing industries. He has held senior leadership positions, having worked in the retail sector with John Lewis in the UK, various Australian retailers and as a Harvey Norman franchisee.

Garry Thyer


Garry operates Garry Thyer's Betta Home Living and Furniture Superstore, Townsville. He has been involved with Betta for 39 years with more than 44 years' experience in the electrical retail industry. One of the founding directors of BSR, Garry was appointed as non-exectuive director in November 2006 and chairman in May 2007.


Dominic McClelland

Deputy Chairman

Dominic has more than 34 years' experience in electrical retailing, as owner of Betta Home Living stores in Bateman's Bay and Ulladulla, New South Wales. As one of BSR's founding directors, Dominic was appointed deputy chairman in July 2007.


Glenn Cain

Non-Executive Director

Glenn was appointed as non-executive director in July 2007. He has 32 years’ experience in the electrical retailing industry. Glenn is an executive director of Able Repairs, which operates Chandlers Betta Home Living stores in Lismore and Casino. He and his family have been involved with Betta for 24 years.


Bob Ansett

Independant Director

Well known for founding Budget Rent a Car in 1965, Mr Ansett, was appointed as an independent director in 2012. Board chairman Garry Thyer says Mr Ansett brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him, while his independence has helped bring clarity to BSR board meetings enabling it to forge ahead.


Jessica McKinnon

Company Secretary and Senior Legal Counsel

Jessica was admitted as a solicitor in 2001 and was
appointed Company Secretary on 25 June 2019. She has
over 15 years’ corporate and commercial legal experience,
and has previously worked inhouse for large Australian
companies including TPG Telecom and RACQ. Jessica is
a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and is a
member of the Queensland Law Society and the Association
of Corporate Counsel Australia.
